| We know the confusion surrounding medical billing statements. Where are my payments? What was this charge for? Do I owe this, or does my insurance company? Why is this different that what my insurance company sent me? In an effort to eliminate at least some of the confusion, Glacial Ridge Health System has contracted with a billing statement vendor to print more patient friendly and self-explanatory billing statement. Below are a some key changes to our statements.
Click here for a guide to understanding your new statement. One of the new features of the statement is the “Pending Insurance” column. The Pending Insurance column is located to the right of the Payments/Adjustments column. In this column, you will find the balance due that has been sent to your insurance and we are waiting to receive payment. Please note that the balance in the pending insurance column is not included in your balance due. Depending on your insurance, you may still be responsible for some or all this balance after your claim is processed by your insurance company. Another new feature is our all-inclusive, system-wide billing statements. Glacial Ridge Health System is now sending out combined patient billing statements. This means you will receive balances for your clinic and hospital services in one combined statement. It is especially important to note that you are receiving a statement from Glacial Ridge Health System, consisting of Glacial Ridge Hospital, Glenwood Medical Center, Brooten Medical Center, Belgrade Medical Center, and Kensington Medical Center. In the past, you would have received a statement from the hospital and the clinic for certain physician services received in the hospital. Now, the physician services are on the combined statement labeled as Physician Fees. With the new billing statements, you will not receive a detailed statement for every clinic visit as you had in the past. If you wish to receive the detail for any clinic visit or hospital admission, please call the business office and request a detailed statement of charges. If you do have questions, please do not hesitate to call 320.634.4521 and ask for a patient account representative to help you understand your billing statement. We can also mail you a detailed bill, or provide further explanations for charges, payments, or adjustments to your bill. Thank you for choosing Glacial Ridge Health System for all of your healthcare needs. We trust that your experience with us has been exceptional and we look forward to caring for you in the future.
