D. Eric Westberg, M.D.
Emergency Department
A native of St. Cloud, MN, Dr. Westberg was a physics
major in college when he decided to join the field of
medicine. He realized the medical practice was a much
better personal fit. As he traveled further and further into
his medical studies, he realized the emotional and physical
level involved in the practice of medicine and knew it was
the right fit for him.
Dr. Westberg has provided care in the clinic, hospital and
ER at Glacial Ridge Health System since 2000. He enjoys
getting to know the families that he cares for and the
community that he delivered so many babies into is one
that he is proud to be raising his own children in. The local
beauty and people have welcomed him and created an
ideal location for him to provide family medicine and give
back.
His Bachelor of Arts came from St. Cloud State University
in 1994 where he attended before attaining his doctorate at
the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Westberg
also served a graduate assistantship in pediatric cardiology
after medical school and has brought that background
into his family medicine career with special interests in
obstetrics and emergency medicine.
Along with family medicine and obstetrics, Dr.
Westberg is drawn to emergency medicine. Much
like family medicine, it is grounded in the timeless
values of personalized, patient-centered care
coupled with the application of new technologies and
systems. The rapid growth of Glacial Ridge Hospital's
Emergency Department created an opportunity for
Dr. Westberg to focus exclusively on emergency care
in 2012 and with his background and experience in
family medicine, obstetrics and emergency care, he
was a perfect fit for the new position.
Dr. Westberg serves as the Medical Advisor for the
West Central SWAT team, Pope County Coroner and
as a physician/surgeon in the United States Army
National Guard. Serving in the National Guard, Dr.
Westberg has completed two tours in Iraq and one
tour in Afghanistan.
In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and restoring
both his home and his boat. He and his wife Jenifer
have two young sons and a daughter. They love to
camp and stay active in the local church community in
any way they can.
